Lester was baptized and confirmed at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, where he remained a faithful and active member throughout his adulthood. His faith was not only something he believed but something he lived daily through kindness, service, humility, and love for others. He trusted in God’s promises and found comfort and strength in his faith. Lester was actively involved in the life of the church, serving through the Clothes Closet, Men in Mission, and participating in missionary trips. His faith found expression not just in worship, but in action.
Lester graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School, Austin, Texas, in 1956. Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1959, and later joined the reserves. He also attended the University of Texas for several years and remained a dedicated Texas Longhorn fan, cheering them on every chance he had. Lester began his career at Calcasieu Lumber Company and then went on to the Texas Department of Public Safety, where he met his beloved wife, Lois. He later retired from Texas Electric Cooperative after serving as an accountant there for 35 years.
A true family man, Lester, also known as "Les", considered his family one of God’s greatest blessings. He was deeply involved in the lives of his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, joyfully supporting them in every way he could. From dancing and coaching teams to traveling countless miles to watch them play sports, show animals, and perform, he never missed a chance to be present. He celebrated birthdays, graduations, baptisms, and every other milestone with pride. You could always count on him.
Lester was also deeply committed to serving others beyond his family. He volunteered faithfully with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, supporting Stride and Ride (Muscle Walk) events, participating in the MDA Telethon, and serving as a judge for the MDA Lock Up. Giving his time and energy to help others was a natural extension of who he was.
Known as a jokester, Lester loved to laugh and make others laugh. His joy and sense of humor were gifts he shared generously, even in difficult times. To know him was truly to love him.

Lester’s life was a testament to faithful love, selflessness, and devotion. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the unwavering love he gave so freely. While his family grieves his passing, they find peace in the promise of eternal life through Christ and the assurance that Lester is now resting in God’s loving care.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Center at Parmer, Encompass at Round Rock, St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, and to all the medical professionals who so faithfully cared for Lester. He believed every person who walked into his room deserved recognition, and he was deeply appreciative of the compassion you showed him.
