Alice (Ramirez) Brinnel was born on June 20, 1941, in Austin, Texas to Daniel and Trinidad Ramirez (both deceased). She has a twin sister, Fanny (Ramirez) Puente. She is the oldest of eight children.
During a previous relationship and a previous marriage, Alice has two daughters, Mary (Ramirez) Friesenhahn and Debra (Novak) Pena.
While vacationing in Pasadena, California in December 1970, Alice met her future husband, Rick Brinnel. Soon after she returned to Austin, they continued their long-distance relationship and received a $600 long distance phone bill. Realizing they loved each other deeply (hence the giant phone bill), Rick and Alice were joined in marriage on April 9, 1971 in Pasadena, California. Shortly after marriage, they moved to Alice’s parents’ home in Austin, TX.
March 1973, their daughter Regina (Brinnel) Sierra was born. The family then moved to North Austin in late 1973. A year later, she had her only son, Rick Brinnel Jr. in May 1974.
While her children were in school, she was very active in supporting their activities and the schools programs. She was a Lifetime PTA Member, an Honorary Member of the Lanier FFA and 20 year volunteer of Rodeo Austin. She helped in the show barn office – checking in the youth participants and helping direct visitors enjoying the show. Her favorite event of the Rodeo was the annual Rodeo Gala. It was her opportunity to dress up and kick up her heels with “Pop” and enjoy the excellent food, great music, get Daddy (Rick) to bid on the silent auction and socialize with all their closest friends.
She worked for IEC Corporation (Austin, TX) for almost 20 years as a packing/receiving associate. She then worked for Dell for five years in the manufacturer department; after which she retired to become a full time wife and grandmother.
Alice is survived by her husband Rick Brinnel Sr., Children Mary Friesenhahn and husband Ambrose, Debra Pena, Regina Sierra and husband Juan, Rick Brinnel, Jr. and wife Tiffanie and “more my son than nephew” Robert Ramirez and wife Maria. She had eight grand-children and three great grand-children. She also leaves behind a brother, three sisters and many nieces and nephews.
She loved all her kids. Her greatest pride and joy was her grand-children and great-children. Although, she had many “adopted children and grand-children” in the neighborhood.
