Alyce Jean Wilson, age 82, passed away peacefully in her home on February 27, 2022. She was born in Austin, Texas on October 20, 1939 and lived an abundant life, making an impact on every person she met.
Alyce worked at the University of Texas as a secretary to Nobel Laureate, Professor Steven Weinberg for the majority of her career. Her hard work at the University was consistently recognized by both peers and employers as she worked there for years until her retirement. While exceedingly proud of her service to the college, Alyce’s biggest passion in her life lay with her Church.
Alyce lived her life extending a helping hand, especially through Church events. A member of the Church of Glad Tidings for decades, Alyce was always willing to assist family, friends, and strangers. She volunteered for too many church functions to count, often cooking and sharing food with others in need. Very much a people person, Alyce also enjoyed hosting and participating in potlucks at Glad Tidings in order to bring people together.
Another joy in Alyce’s life was her time spent gardening. Just as she took time to nurture everyone in her life, Alyce loved to tend to her flowers and plants each morning and took great pride in getting compliments about having the best yard in the neighborhood. And much like the vibrant flowers in her beautiful garden, Alyce brought a smile to everyone whose path she crossed, and bloomed throughout her life.
Alyce is survived by her brother Bill; her daughters Renee and Robin; her grandchildren Jen, Joe, Josh, Tricia, and Matthew; and her great granddaughter: Mikaela. All of whom she loved dearly.
