Anthony Hammond

Anthony ‘Bob’ William Hammond went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 13th, 2022. Bob was born on May 4th, 1941 in Fressingfield Suffolk, England to Robert and Emily Hammond. Bob grew up with two siblings, Albert and Josephine. He went to work as a fisherman at an early age, then on the railway, and later he went on to be a lorry driver in England.

In 2005 he moved to the United States and married Betty Doss. Their love for each other was a shining example to others. They enjoyed many years of traveling, both in the states and internationally.

Bob had a great sense of humor and was an excellent storyteller. Bob was also an animal lover and enjoyed his last four months living with Wendall and Ruth on the farm where he was surrounded by animals. He loved feeding the baby chicks every day and playing with the cats. He also enjoyed gardening and being outside in the warm sun. You’d often find him and Betty sitting outside on the porch holding hands and watching the animals.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Betty Ruth Gibbs Doss Hammond. His stepson and daughter-in-law Wendall and Ruth Doss, daughter-in-law Tracy Doss, Grandchildren: Jessica Losch and husband Ryan, Jackie Doss, Marina Doss McLerran and husband Roy, Alder Hood, Erica King, and Adrienne Brown and husband Drew. Bob was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in England and the US.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Emily Hammond, spouse Lin Hammond, siblings Albert Hammond and Josephine Hammond, stepson Kenneth Doss, and best friend Mervyn Tooke.

Services will be held Monday, June 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Creek Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Walnut Creek Baptist Church are requested.
