Reverend Arthur Irving Musson of Austin, Texas, beloved husband of Mary Musson, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and deeply loved on February 18, 2015. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Winifred Outerbridge and Arthur Eugene Paynter Musson, his sister, Mildred Ryan, his brother, Fredrick Musson, and his step-daughter, Karen Brown, all whom he dearly loved.
Arthur Irving Musson was born on January 3, 1929 in Bailey’s Bay, Bermuda. Arthur and Mary were united in holy matrimony on October 6, 1962. Arthur was a devoted husband, father, and step-father. He and his wife Mary had a special love for one another. They traveled all over the world: Africa, Bermuda, Europe, France, Germany, and Italy, just to name a few. Arthur never complained and he embraced life with passion and with a positive perspective. He retired from the United States Army in 1973. Arthur earned numerous medals, including the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with 1 OLC, Vietnam Service Medal with 7 Bronze Stars, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Army Commendation Medal with 1 OLC, Bronze Star Medal, 5 O/S Bars, 6 Service Stripes, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award) and a Meritorious Unit Citation with 1 OLC. Arthur earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Texas at Austin in 1978. He retired from the United States Postal Service.
Arthur was a faithful servant who truly committed himself to the Lord. He was a devoted member of Solid Rock Baptist Church, serving as a Minister, Sunday School Superintendent, Bible School Teacher, and a member of The Baptist Ministers Union. Arthur later united with Greater Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ricky Williams, where he remained until his departure from earth. Prior to his illness, Arthur ministered to youth through prison ministries for 8 years. He believed that no life was beyond the reach of God’s power.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and faithful wife of 53 years, Mary Musson; five sons, Arthur Musson, Jr., Jonathon Musson, Lamar Musson (Julie), Valdmir Musson (Barbara), and Paul Musson; two step-children, Herman Brown and Willie Brown; twenty grandchildren; a nephew, John Kennedy and a host of family and friends.
I’m not going to die; this outer ease is going to wear out.
Nothing can touch me. Who I am is a spirit and
My spirit goes strong, because I feed it.
I do not live for me, I live for Christ.
I am a vessel for Christ to live in and to work through.
The fruit of the spirit is God, who is love.
