

Born in Austin, Texas on October 20, 1930 to Oakley and Nollie Davis. Graduated from the old Austin High School in 1948. Graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hardin-Simmons University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
Married Joe Collis Miles on August 23, 1952. Lived in Waco, Texas while Joe finished Baylor University. Moved back to Austin again, then San Antonio and Beeville before returning permanently to Austin in 1960.
Barbara worked as the Pastor’s secretary at Congress Avenue Baptist Church for 10 years, and then at the Department of Aviation at Robert Mueller Municipal Airport for 17 years as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Aviation. She retired in 1993.
Throughout her life, Barbara was known for her beautiful alto voice, sang in church choirs for over 50+years, taught Sunday School, led devotions, was active on committees and in other ministries. She and Joe were known for speaking at banquets and singing duets, which they loved to do. After retirement, Barbara joined Joe in the golf world and both were members of Onion Creek Country Club. She also volunteered at Seton Hospital for 14 ½ years. She and Joe traveled all over the world together living retirement life to the fullest.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Oakley and Nollie Davis; her husband, Joe Miles, Sr., her son, Joe Miles, Jr., her brother and sister-in-law, Wilton and Eddye Davis, her brother-in-law Earl Dillard, and her parents-in-law Cloister and Irene Miles and sister-in-law, Kay Shaw.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Pat Dillard; son Art Miles and wife Joani; daughter Tracy Todd and husband Tim; and daughter-in-law Beth Miles. Grandchildren: Emily Rogers and husband Blane; Michael Miles and wife, Sara; Jessica Hatley and husband Reed; Alyson Weaver and husband Rob; Garrett Miles; Erin Newman and husband Alex; Ashley Danks and husband Jordan; and Jacob Todd and wife, Nikkie. Great-Grandchildren: Brady, Lila and Reese Rogers; Zoe and June Miles; Harper and Knox Hatley; Sidney, Miles, Ava, and Ellis Weaver; Cade, Dane, and Cameron Miles; Travis and Lotte Newman; Cooper and Caleb Danks; and Jackson and Sadie Todd. She is also survived by several nieces, nephew, cousins, close friends and lifelong friends Sid and Marlene Rich.
