

Betty Josephine Blackmon passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the age of 89. Betty was born in Granger, Texas to Anton and Anne Vanek, one of seven children, all of whom grew up in Taylor, Texas.
She passed on many life lessons but none more important than providing unconditional love and support to her family. Known to all as the kindest of the kind, she was always eager to support others. She was always involved in raising her three sons and played an instrumental role in her four grandchildren’s lives. Betty was known for her avid gardening skills, growing all kinds of fruits and vegetables but especially took great pride in having the best roses in the neighborhood. Her kind heart, loving cheerfulness and full of laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew & loved her and will always remain close in our hearts.
Preceding Betty in death was her husband of 48 years, John Wesley Blackmon, son, Jerry Blackmon, father, Anton Vanek, mother, Anne Vanek, sisters, Mildred Stefek & Ann Vanek and brothers, Anton Vanek, Julius Vanek, Clarence Vanek, and Edward Vanek.
She is survived by her loving family: sons Charles Blackmon of Austin, Texas, Wesley Blackmon and wife Desiree Blackmon of Frisco, Texas, grandchildren, Jonathan Blackmon of Newport Beach, CA, Marcus Blackmon, Leah Williams and Miranda Blackmon of Frisco, Texas; sister in-laws, Lillie Vanek and Bernice Vanek of Taylor, Texas. Betty is also survived by many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N. IH-35 Pflugerville, Texas 78660, on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held in Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 4, 2017 with the committal service immediately following at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
