Bettye was born on March 13, 1941, in Dime Box, Texas to Joe and Millie Blaha. Bettye left this world to be with the Lord on December 26, 2020, after a courageous battle with several health problems. Bettye loved nature and marveled at the creation of God and was thankful that God created her in His image and, having her sins forgiven through Jesus, she could fellowship with Him forever.
Bettye attended school in the Dime Box Independent School District and graduated in 1959. After graduating, she moved to Austin and began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and later worked for a finance company before moving on to work for the Texas Industrial Accident Board. While still working, she met Charles Miller through a mutual friend and soon after that she became Mrs. Charles Miller in 1962.
Bettye and I joined Hyde Park Baptist Church in 1973, and Bettye immediately joined the church choir loving to sing praises to the Lord, and continued that for about 40 years. She also enjoyed being a department director of the middle children’s Sunday School class for 10 years plus. She also served as a church greeter for many years.
She worked for a few more years and retired to become a fulltime housewife. Bettye loved her home and loved being at home where she was an immaculate housekeeper and she strived for perfection in every task she undertook; she spent much time outside taking care of the many plants she had. Bettye and Charles were good friends and they enjoyed their marriage for 58 years.
Growing up on the family farm and ranch, she got to know and love many different animals. She had a special place in her heart for dogs and she gave a good home to her golden retriever for 17 years.
Bettye is survived by her husband, Charles Miller; sister, Patsy Wieland; niece, Rhonda Claiborne; nephew, Randall Wieland; and her great niece, Carley Justitz.
To all of the wonderful people in the medical field, particularly the care that Heritage Health Hospice Care provided to Bettye, we give all of you a big thank you.
