

On February 8, 2011 Billy R. Crockett went home to be with his Lord and Savior.
Billy was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, the fifth of six of Earl Vernon and Ruby W. Crockett. He was baptized at St. Paul C.M.E Church at an early age.
After moving to Austin, he attended Rosewood Elementary and Kealing Junior High. He graduated from The Old L.C. Anderson High School in 1964. Nominated to attend Westpoint Academy by Rep. J.J. Pickle, he chose to attend The University of Texas School of Pharmacy. From there he joined the U.S. Marines Corp and served his country during the Vietnam War. In 1971 he was honorably discharged from the military and returned to Austin. In 1974 he married Janice Hinton.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife Janice and his parents Earl Vernon and Ruby Walton Crockett.
Survivors are his son, Todd (Julie) Perkins of Keller, two daughters, KaCee Crockett and Paige (Albert) Nieto of Austin; Two granddaughters and three grandsons. He is also survived by one brother Joseph Crockett of Austin, 4 sisters Lois Parks and Judy (Earl) Davis of San Antonio; Peggy McLennan of Austin, and Bonnie Simpson of Houston; two adopted sisters Shirley Gilyard of Nacogdoches and Easter Webber of Houston and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Readily available with a huge smile, open heart and especially an open door, Billy was a joy to everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed, but we know he is in a better place.
Services with Honors will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2010 at 10:00am in the Memorial Chapel at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home.
