Brian loved and served the Lord faithfully as a steadfast member of House of the Lord Fellowship Church for 30 years. He initially served as a Sunday School Teacher, later becoming the Youth Pastor for over 25 years, and most recently, Co-Pastor.
Brian truly enjoyed basketball and played it as often as he could. He also enjoyed cooking, as well as break dancing, and was well-versed in creating rhymes and performing rap music.
Brian Rivers was born on October 4, 1974 in Philadelphia, PA to James and Cleortis Rivers. Shortly after he was born his parents relocated to Dallas, TX, where he spent his childhood and graduated from North Garland High School.
In 1996, Brian graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Journalism degree. While his heart was always rooted in ministry, he also enjoyed a rewarding and successful career in public relations, marketing and creative services. His expertise spanned graphic design, production and copywriting, and he most recently led a global studio design team.
In 2003, Brian was united in marriage with Holly Lee Houston. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Brianna Gabrielle (11) and Kathryn Grace (9). Family was a priority for Brian, and while he was outnumbered by girls, he was very engaged as a loving and praying husband and father over his household.
Brian always had a calm strength and was wise beyond his years. Many would say that when he ministered, the revelation God gave him to share was so powerful that it impacted and changed their lives. He had a warm and caring demeanor and a wonderful sense of humor.
Brian is survived by his loving wife Holly; his cherished daughters, Brianna and Kathryn; and his godson, Demetrius Robinson, Jr. He is also survived by his parents (stepparents) Cleortis Naomi Briggs (James W.) of Spring, TX and James Edward Rivers (Dottye) of Pflugerville, TX; as well as his only sibling, Germaine T. Rivers of Millville, NJ.
Many others are left to cherish Brian's memories, including aunts, uncles, stepbrothers, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
