Candy Renee Powell (Gibson), age 64 of Hutto, Texas passed into eternal life April 17, 2021 surrounded by her family. Candy was born in Big Spring, Texas June 5, 1956 to Billy Joe and Maxine Gibson. She came into this world with a full head of hair and a crooked smile that melted hearts from the start.
She grew up a true Austinite in Austin, Texas. She attended Lamar Junior High and McCallum High school. While attending MAC, at the age of 14 she met the love of her life Terry. Candy was a twirler for three years, and a cheerleader her Senior year. She was well liked and loved by all. She was always nominated for class favorite. Her sweet smile and kind heart was welcoming to all that met her.
After graduation, Candy and Terry tied the knot in front of 200 of their closest friends and family. After they married, they decided they wanted to raise their kids out of the city, so they moved to Liberty Hill where they spent the next 18 years raising their three kids and forming lifelong friendships.
Candy was described by most as pure hearted, loving, fun, kind, giving, amazing, gentle, a beautiful light, humble, and a sweet soul. To know her was to know a true angel on earth. She was so humble, and never saw herself the way others did. There are simply no words to describe the hole left in all of our hearts.
She is survived by her forever love Terry, son Kevin Powell, his wife Stephanie, their children Cooper, Jordyn, Jake, and Bailey, son Brett Powell, his wife Chelsea, their children Charleigh and Coraleigh, daughter Courtney Shelly, her husband Britton, their children Dakota, Jesse, and Ryker, plus several aunts, uncles, sister and brother-in-laws, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death and welcomed into the arms of our Savior by her parents Maxine and Billy Joe Gibson, brother Kelly Gibson, in-laws Melvin and Alma Powell and grandparents. We know they are having a coming home celebration for her in Heaven.
Pall bearers are Kevin Powell, Britton Shelly, Charlie O’Dell, Cooper Batson, Daniel Powell, and Nick Arnold. Honorary Pall Bearers include Jesse Shelly, Jake Powell, Edwin Powell, Randy O’Dell.
