It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband/father/grandfather, Clifford L. Pellar, who left us on the morning of August 29, 2024 at the age of 84. After a battle with cancer, he was able to say his final goodbyes at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Clifford was born on December 8, 1939, in Johnson City. He was a proud, lifelong resident of Austin and a 1959 graduate of Travis High School, where he lettered in football, basketball, and track. He began his 32 year career with the City of Austin Water Department in 1959, while also serving in the Army Reserve and the National Guard. He married Patricia Jean Courtney on January 14, 1961, and they began their lives together; a life filled with the things he loved most…hunting, fishing, sports, food, and family. Throughout his adult life, Clifford touched the lives of numerous young athletes in Central Texas as a mentor, coach, and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia Pellar, son, Clifford Lee Pellar and wife, Annemarie, son, Craig Pellar and wife, Nichole, granddaughter, Kayla Pellar, sister Jeanie Edwards and husband, Michael, brother Michael Dwayne Bowles and wife, Donna, and numerous nieces and nephews who will continue to honor his memory. He was preceded in death by his mother, Delzie Bowles.
We welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating the life of a man who was loved deeply and will be missed.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. The Funeral Service to celebrate Clifford's life will be 10:00 AM on Sunday, September 8, 2024 in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, with the interment to immediately follow in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
