Culberson Williams, Sr. was born November 6, 1967, to Gloria Esther Williams & Leroy Williams in Cuero, TX. He and his twin sister Diane were the youngest of 5 children. He was reared in a single-parent home.
He attended Cuero High School, worked in the school cafeteria, and worked as a Ranch hand for Principal Ray Kelley. Art was his passion. He used his talent to draw the Cuero Gobbler Mascot, a ferocious, muscular figure that defeated the opponents. The school utilized his artwork for years after he graduated in 1988. He also won 1st place for drawing the Courthouse in Cuero, TX.
Although he grew up without his father, he desired to learn to work and provide for his family. He was kind, loving, and hardworking and always helped his mom and family. He became ill and often prayed that the Lord would give him a beautiful wife and two beautiful children.
On July 19, 1989, he accepted Christ as Lord, Savior & Healer. On November 3, 1989. he was joined in Holy Matrimony with Sheila Edmond under the leadership of the Late Roland J. Allen. They later had two beautiful children.
The Late John Sorrells trained him as a maintenance man for an apartment complex. He worked at a Taco Bell warehouse while working at Austin American Statesman and Clear Lite Auto Glass as side jobs. He later found his niche in the Water Sprinkler Trade. He loved his job because it allowed him to do what he loved to do: work with tools. He loved to work and provide for his family.
He was a likable person who quickly made friends. He was the kind of person everyone could rely on—whether it was family, friends, or even friends of friends. No matter the time, day or night, rain or shine, he was always there, ready to lend a hand. If he could, he'd give you the shirt off his back. He wasn't just helpful, though—he was also the family's comedian, always keeping us laughing and lifting our spirits.
On January 20, 2021, he was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (Blood Cancer). He knew the Lord could heal him through prayer, as He had healed his one 1/2-year-old son who could not walk, crawl, sit up, or stand on his own. He fought through his sickness, but God had other plans. On Thursday, September 19, 2024, the sun set on Culberson's life. God called, and he answered, as we all must do. He looked peaceful.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and nephew, Charlie Williams.
