Ms. Debbie was a beloved member of our Cook-Walden Family. She worked for Cook-Walden/Capital Parks for 17 years before her retirement in 2020 due to health concerns. She took great pride in her work designing markers and helping families as a family service counselor. She loved participating in the annual Remembrance Service held every December at the funeral home. She was an integral part of the L.I.F.T. program here at Cook-Walden which focused on supporting widows and widowers of families that we’ve served. Debbie also felt a deep connection to our local heroes in blue; she was extremely honored to participate on a committee that designed a memorial for the fallen Austin Police Officers in 2019.
Debbie loved karaoke, cooking, making people laugh with her “Friday funny” jokes, and spending time with her family. She had a contagious smile, a golden sense of humor, and a vivacious personality. She will be truly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Debbie is preceded in death by her father, Carroll Leon Hunter, brother, Clinton Warren Hunter, grandson, Jace Daniel Weir and nephew, Ryan William Govro. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Robert Weir; daughter, Brittney Weir; mother, Christine Swan; step-mother, Velma Hunter; grandchildren, Jacob Baker, Zachary Smith, Carolann Gwinn, Clinton Weir and Koltan Weir; and brothers, Bill Govro and C.J. Hunter. She is also survived by many other family and friends and her Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Family.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023 in the funeral home chapel. She will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
