Dennis was a son, husband, brother, friend, uncle, co-founder of a successful business and most importantly an exceptional human being. Born April 12, 1960, in Manhattan, New York; he was the son of late Dorothy LaPonzina Colletti and Vincent Colletti. He is survived by his wife of 18 years (together for 30 years), Janene Collette Colletti; sister Diane Colletti Rivenburgh; brother-in-law Robert Rivenburgh; brother Vincent Colletti; sister-in-law Jane Cedar Colletti; niece Beth Rivenburgh Pietras; nephew Scott James Rivenburgh; and many cousins. He was very close to his business partner’s children and treated them as his own, Michael Jr., Nicholas “Nicco” & Natalia Renna.
Dennis grew up in Scarsdale, New York. After the death of his father in 1974, his mother and he moved to Woodbury, Connecticut where he graduated from Nonnewaug High School in 1978. He moved to Daytona Beach, Forida where he graduated in 1982 from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with an Aeronautical Science Degree in Aviation. He then moved to Carlsbad, California where he worked for a brief time in the aviation industry before becoming an entrepreneur with his high school friend and business partner Michael Angelo Renna Sr. He helped build a very successful food company called Michael Angelo’s Gourmet Foods, Inc. which started in Solana Beach, CA in 1983 and moved to Austin, Texas in 1993 when the company was relocated. He and Janene lived in Georgetown, Texas.
Dennis’ entire career was with Michael Angelo’s in Sales. He was especially talented at creating solid relationships that contributed to the company’s success. He and his business partner sold the company in 2017, after 35 years of blood, sweat and tears and many laughs along the way. He was also the glue between his family and friends, always trying to create quality time between people with a few pranks thrown in along the way. Dennis was a naturally generous person who would give away the shirt off his back to a friend in need. He will be missed terribly, and as one friend put it we were lucky to have known Dennis.
