Don Lemons, age 90, was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 8, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Don was born on October 6, 1928 in Stamford, Texas to Carl and Ora Lemons.
His family later moved to Amarillo, Texas where he graduated from Amarillo High School. On July 3, 1948 he married the love of his life, Wanda (McMurtry) Lemons. While still in high school, Don began working for Remington Office Machines. His skills were quickly recognized and he was transferred to the factory in Searcy, Arkansas where he remained for 8 years prior to being promoted to Director of Service for the Western States for an additional 23 years. Following retirement, Don went into the Security business and was awarded a certificate for bravery in his successful rescue of residents and their horses from an equestrian community during a forest fire. He and Wanda have been longtime active members of the Pflugerville First Baptist Church.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kelly Lemons in 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 71 years, Wanda Lemons; daughter, Mickey Walden of Austin; daughter, Carla Webb and husband Wayne of Austin; son, Hal Lemons and wife Janel of Austin; son, Jack Lemons and wife Linda of Austin; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. in The Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with burial immediately following at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
