

Edgar William Hudgins was born on April 18, 1943, in Chester, Pennsylvania. He left this earth and joined his Heavenly Savior, on April 16, 2020, while peacefully sleeping at home in Round Rock, Texas.
Ed grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, graduating from Craddock High School. Even at a young age, he was on the golf course, played on the high school golf team at school, and received a golf scholarship to Old Dominion. Instead of pursuing his education at Old Dominion, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country for over 20 years. He held many different roles while serving in the military, including chaplain, contracting officer, and recruiter. He served two tours in Vietnam and received many awards while in the Air Force. He was named Top Recruiter in the Nation for 3 years in a row. Ed was an avid golfer and until recently played every Monday and Friday with the Austin Senior Golf Group. For many years, every Wednesday, he scheduled and oversaw the Senior Women’s Golf Group at Lion’s Municipal Golf Course.
Ed is survived by his wife of 33 years, Dora (Headlee) Hudgins. Ed had two children from a prior marriage and three step-children that he considered his own. Edgar William Hudgins, Jr., who preceded him in death on November 14, 1987, Sandra Carolyn Hughes (James Hughes) who lives in Austin, Texas, Walter Richard Munsel II (Kesha Martin) of Copperas Cove, Texas, William Nelson Munsel (Ashley Munsel) of Austin, Texas, and Heather Dawn Munsel, who preceded him in death on April 19, 2000.
Grandchildren - Christopher N. Munsel, Kelsey Dawn Munsel, Avery M. Mann, Peyton L. Munsel, W. Eli Munsel, Sara Hughes, Elisabeth Hughes, Hannah Smith, and Lylah Smith.
Graveside service will be held at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Memorial Cemetery and will be officiated by Jeff Switzer on Sunday, April 19, 2020, at 3:00 pm.
