

Edwin A. Krieg was born on November 9, 1919 to Gottfried and Marie Krieg at their home in New Bern, Texas. He was the youngest of 13 children. Edwin completed the 7th grade at New Bern school and then worked at the family farm until he turned 21years old.
At 21, Edwin joined the Army, serving during WWII until he was 25. After serving in the Army, Edwin worked at the Thrall Cotton Gin where he met his wife, Charlcye Wilson. They were married on February 13, 1947. Edwin briefly worked as a plumber and then became a trim carpenter.
Edwin moved his family to North Austin in 1956 where he worked as a trim carpenter. In 1982, Edwin, his sons and son-in-law built their home at Norman’s Crossing. He retired from working in 1999 at the age of 80. Moving to Norman’s Crossing he and Charlcye found St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where they were welcomed by a very loving community and were devout members.
Edwin is survived by his wife of 67years, Charlcye; daughter, Candice Nichols of Manor; son, Danny Krieg and wife, Sarah of Angleton, Texas and son, Michael Krieg and wife, Carol of Austin; eleven grandchildren: Melissa Saphir, Jon Nichols, Bobby Krieg, Barby Parker, Gene Krieg, Pahoya Krieg, Casey Krieg, Robert P. Krieg, Destiny Cox, Tanya Harding and Christina Schroeder; 13 great-grandchildren: Brandon Nichols, Ashley, Amber and Alyssa Thompson; Katie, Molly and Cassidy Krieg; Jackson and Jacob Parker; Idale and Otto Saphir; Triston and Hilton Harding and Cierra Krieg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 brother and 3 sisters.
A visitation was held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment followed at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
