Marie met the love of her life, Larry, during World War II. During the years, she and Larry met and made so many friends. Many of those friends have already left this earth, too, but Marie would want their memories acknowledged. Marie had so many friends and co-workers that she loved. Before she was sworn in as Postmaster at Manor, Texas, from 1976-1992, she worked at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Civil Engineering. Once she retired from the Post Office, she went in and out of “retirement”, working at her beloved Chase Bank, where was loved and admired by both co-workers and customers and she loved them!
Preceded in death by her husband, Larry Bruce, her daughter, Beverly Bruce, her grandson Christopher Turner, her brothers Frank Rader and Wilson Rader, and her sisters, Iris Jones, Louise Carlson, Lucille Preece, and Nell Delaney.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Melich, her son, Gary Lynn Bruce, her grandchildren, Robert Turner III, Brett McCormick, Michelle Litz and her husband Michael, and Ben Taylor as well as an “adopted” grandson, Tyler Grant. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Matthew and Marcus Litz, Kameron McCormick, Abigail and Robert Lee Turner IV (Ruger), and Grayson Taylor. She also is survived by one sister, Martha Rader, and one brother-in-law, John Delaney and a host of nephews and nieces.
Marie would, and did, make many sacrifices for her husband, children, family and friends. We believe that for every sacrifice she made, there was an Angel waiting to take her hand and guide into God’s loving arms. No matter how many times her husband, her children, her grandchildren, or friends, made a mis-step, she was always there to get things straightened out and trying to get everyone back on “the right path”. We will miss her so much. Marie’s love for her husband, children, family, God and her country never wavered.
Pallbearers will be John “Beetle” Bailey, Billy Cady, Scott Ferrell, Chris Litz, Ray Preece, and Mike Rader. Honorary pallbearers are her beloved great-grandchildren: Matthew Litz, Kameron McCormick, Marcus Litz, Abigail Turner, Robert Lee Turner IV (Ruger), Grayson Taylor and Todd Ferrell.
Marie will be missed by everyone who ever had the honor of knowing her. For those of us who were fortunate to know the depth of her love, there is a void in our hearts that can never be filled. We will miss her every day, but we will go on, just as she would want us to do, knowing that our lives have been both blessed and greatly enriched just by her love and presence. Her love was enduring, and ever-lasting. And so, secure in her love , we leave her in God’s arms and hands, and knowing that He will take the very best of care of her.
