

Enedina lived most of her life in Laredo valiantly raising her children by herself. For the last 26 years, she lived in Austin, Denton, Del Valle and Kyle. While she only attained a junior high school education, she instilled on her children the need for them to be well educated. All four children became college graduates including two from The University of Texas at Austin.
Enedina was preceded in death by her parents, Faustino and Sofia. She also was predeceased by sisters, Elisa Vela and Delia Campos, by brothers Hector Vela and Noe Vela, and by two of her daughters, Irma Vela and Ana Luisa Vela.
Enedina’s children, 1st Sgt. Joseph R. Vela Jr. Ret, Javier M. Vela, Adriana Vela and husband Mike Milani, and Ricardo A. Vela and wife Ana Vela, survive her. Brothers Roberto F. Vela, Ismael Vela, and Lionel Vela also survive her. Enedina’s loving grandchildren Nikita Milani, Arthur Milani, and Theodore Vela survive her as well as many nephews and nieces.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home with a rosary service taking place at 7:00 p.m. that evening. The funeral service will take place in The Memorial Chapel of the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, October 29, 2017 with a graveside service afterwards in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
