He served in the Air force as an Air Traffic Controller. He was stationed in the Philippines, Mississippi, San Francisco and South Carolina where he met his wife Daisy Belle WestPoint. After they wed, he was stationed in California and then to Austin, Texas where he was honorably discharged. He then was employed with the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services for 33 years. Another one of his achievements was earning a four year degree at St. Edwards University.
He enjoyed music and playing the saxophone; he was a collector of various soul music albums. He also collected books and magazines like Jet, Ebony and National Geographic.
Eugene was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Burton; mother, Maebelle Burton; wife, Daisy Burton and daughter, Nicole Eugenia Burton. Those left to cherish are: Stepdaughters, Tonja Jones (Jewel) and Ava Morrison (John); grandchildren, Jewel Jones, Tasha Jones, Lauren Jones, Taylor Morrison, Shelby Morrison, Brandon Morrison and Sydney Morrison; Great Grandchildren, Jaiden Jones and Alexa Jones.
Eugene will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
