On December 30, 2013, Evelyn “Juanita” Pacey, who was born on December 11, 1916, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, went home to heaven. She attended the University of Oklahoma majoring in math and art. While attending OU, she met and married William Ambrose Pacey in 1938. Married to a career Army officer, they lived in France and Japan and traveled throughout the United States and Europe. When Ambrose retired, the family settled in Oklahoma City. They moved to Denver in 1980 and to Austin in 1990. Juanita was proud to be a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and spent years researching the family history. In addition, she expressed her artistic talents in oil and china painting. She was a most loving, kind, generous person; to know her was to love her.
Juanita will be greatly missed by all who knew her including her daughter La Nita Crosby and her husband Don, her son Stephen Pacey and his wife Christine, by four grandchildren Carl Crosby, Traci Hair, Lisa White and Matthew Pacey, and four great grandchildren, William, Campbell and George Pacey, and Abigail Lloyd-Bostock-Crosby, her sister La Veta Talbutt and a niece Marci Scarborough. Also, special thanks to her longtime caregivers Deborah Garcia, Lezlea Hudson, Cindy Smith who took such wonderful care of her.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Memorial Chapel in Pflugerville. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow her services at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery.
