He was born in Florence, Alabama and attended Booker T. Washington High School in Wichita Falls, TX where he excelled in basketball. People still talk about how he could handle a ball. He served in the US Navy from 1960 through 1966.
Ferrell (or Bubba as he was affectionately known) never met a stranger. He would talk with anybody he met. Many times he could be found sitting on a bench during one of his many cruises talking with someone about his beloved Cowboys or any subject he could think of.
Ferrell was a member of the One Way Baptist Church of Round Rock, TX where he served faithfully with the Finance Ministry. He gave almost 40 years to Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, IL as a Lab Technician, and was currently employed with Union Hill Round Rock ISD Elementary School as a Crossing Guard. He loved his corner and all the caring friends he met in the Union Hill office. He also made many friends while working with Round Rock Meals on Wheels and driving seniors to their various appointments.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 38 years, Sharon Jarrett of Round Rock, TX; four daughters: Vickye (Robert) Campbell of Wichita Falls, TX, Tanya Jarrett of North Chicago, IL, Terra Jarrett of DeSoto, TX, and Tremelle Purcell of Riverdale, GA; three sons: Ferrell (Melissa) L. Jarrett of Houston, TX, Darren (Yvonne) Jarrett of Lewisville, TX, and Cassius (Wanda) Callahan of Raleigh, North Carolina; one brother, Larry (Peggy) Jarrett of Garland, TX; three sisters: Brenda Jarrett of Wichita Falls, TX, Patricia Adams of North Chicago, IL and Karen (Clarence) Jarrett-Evans of Round Rock, TX. He leaves thirty two grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daisy and Charles Jarrett; one son, Charles (Sprout) Jarrett; one nephew, Keith Estus; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
