Frances Perry Blacklock passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, in Round Rock, Texas, at the age of 97. Born on January 11, 1927, in Haskell County, Texas, Frances was a faithful, loving wife, mother, and grandmother affectionately known as Nonnie.
Frances attended Post School and graduated from Paint Creek High School. She dedicated several years to the Haskell County Clerk's Office before marrying Wayne Broughton Blacklock on Jan 23, 1949, and devoting herself to her family as a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. In 1967, she resumed her career at the Austin Independent School District Business Office, where she worked until her retirement in 1994.
Frances was a skilled seamstress, creating beautiful garments for her daughters, including prom and homecoming formals and bridesmaid's dresses. As children, her daughters, Pam and LeAnn, fondly remember many nights falling asleep to the whirr of her Singer sewing machine. Frances’ love for sewing, continued throughout her life, culminating in nine handmade quilts her first year of retirement. One for each grandchild. She also enjoyed yard work and raising azaleas, at her home in Northwest Austin.
She was a devout member of several churches throughout her life, including Paint Creek United Methodist Church, Shearer Hills Baptist Church, Windsor Park Baptist Church, and First Baptist Church of Pflugerville. By her life, she pointed the way to find peace and security through faith in Jesus Christ, for which her family is deeply grateful.
Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne Broughton Blacklock, her parents, Hoyt and Thelma Perry, and her brothers, Ray, Gene (Jeanine), and Don (Nanette) Perry. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Dowd-Bohn and her husband George of Austin, and LeAnn Perrow of Austin, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
