Frances Moreno Strickland, 96, of Austin, Texas, passed away on Sunday July 30, 2023. Frances was born on September 17, 1926 to Ysabel Puente and Jose L. Moreno. She was married to Nelson Strickland who preceded her in death.
Frances was a very intelligent and strong woman. She was heavily involved with the Lulac Organization and the owner of Hut’s Hamburgers on Sixth Street for a period of time. She was a true believer in God and attended mass every Sunday and St. Williams Catholic Church. Frances retired from both Time Warner Cable and the Round Rock Independent School District.
Frances lived a good long, happy life. She loved to shop, go out to eat and flowers. She always carried herself well and was always happy. She had great friends, Yolanda and Rosa, as well as two wonderful nieces, Rosa Linda Trevino and Frances Moreno.
She will be truly missed and will never be forgotten.
Frances is survived by three nephews, Joe L. Moreno(Amy), Raul Moreno and Jesse Moreno; 2 nieces, Rosa Linda Trevino(Roland) and Frances Moreno; two great nephews, Roland Trevino, Jr(Wendi), Eric Trevino(Priscilla); 3 great nieces, Michelle Rocha(Kris), Melinda Schlueter(late husband Brent) and Vickie Cisneros(Rudy); 8 great-great nephews, 6 great-great nieces; 2 great-great-great nephews and one great-great-great niece; she is also survived by two adopted nieces Magalena and Maggie as well as their children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Strickland, her parents Ysabel and Jose Moreno, and her brothers, Joe A. Moreno and Jesse M. Moreno.
There will be a visitation from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Rosary at 7 p.m., on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023 in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 4th in the St. Williams Catholic Church, 620 Round Rock W. Drive, Round Rock, Texas, 78681. The interment will immediately follow in the Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. Interstate 35, Austin, Texas, 78704.
