YOU WERE NAMED FRANCIS, PRESUMABLY  AFTER SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI, WHO WAS KNOWN TO BE AN ITALIAN MYSTIC FRIAR. AND FOR SURE, YOU BEHAVED A MYSTIC, WHO KNEW SO MUCH BUT SAID VERY LITTLE, ALWAYS CARRYING A HALF SMILING AND A HALF LAUGHING FACIAL EXPRESSION. 
WE FIRST MET AS FRESHERS IN SEPTEMBER OF 1969, AND SPENT THE NEXT FIVE YEARS PURSUING OUR SECOND CYCLE EDUCATION AS ONE OF THE MOST PROFOUND YEAR GROUPS AHISCO EVER HAD, UNTIL WE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED IN JUNE OF 1974.
YOU ALWAYS CARRIED A QUIET AND CONTEMPLATIVE DISPOSITION, AND EVEN WHEN YOU ELECTED TO BE NICK NAMED JIM BROWN, AND MISCHIEVOUS JOBO CHANGED THAT TO "JOE ELLIBRA BRA BRA", YOU HAVE ONLY SMILED KNOWINGLY, THAT YOU WERE DEALING WITH AN INCORRIGIBLE CLASS CAPTAIN.
ONE THING, ALL OF US, YOUR YEAR MATES, ARE CURIOUS ABOUT IS, AT WHAT POINT YOU AND EMELIA TETTEYFIO, THE SCHOOL’S GOLD MEDAL  WINNING MIDDLE AND LONG DISTANCE RUNNER, THE ATHLETIC STAR OF THE SCHOOL, GOT TALKING, GOT DATING, AND GOT MARRIED, ON THE BLIND SIDE OF ALL OF US, ESPECIALLY WHEN A FEW OTHERS WHO HAD SIMILAR HOPES WERE  UNSUCCESSFUL. NO NAMES, BUT WE KNOW THEM. MAYBE ONE DAY WHEN WE MEET IN HEAVEN, WE SURELY WILL ASK YOU.
THIS LIFE WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE LIVED FOREVER. SO YOU HAVE ONLY TAKEN THE LEAD AHEAD OF US. WE SHALL ALL ANSWER TO THIS CALL ONE DAY, ONE AFTER ANOTHER.
IN THE MEANTIME, ALL WE CAN WISH YOU NOW IS TO FARE THEE WELL, AND MAY THE GOOD LORD KEEP YOU SAFELY IN HIS BOSOM, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

The hour of death cannot be forcast . But we can imagine the hour as placed in an obscured and distance in the future. It never occurred to us it has any connection with this day and that death could arrive this soon.
O dear brother , sleep on and take your rest
Thy head upon your saviour's breasts, we love you more but Jesus loves you best . Good night ; good night ! Good night. Sleep tight in the Lord till we meet again

In Memory of our Departed Francis Boafo

To the Darko-Mensah Family, Francis Boafo was know simply as Bro Boafo. Our relationship with him went beyond just being a Christian brother and fellow church member.
It all began in the year 2007 when the family moved to stay in an apartment quite close to the Tesano Baptist Church. We joined the church and it didn't take long for Bro Boafo to be attracted to us. He was humble, gentle and kind.  Above all, he sought the salvation and Christian growth of all he came into contact with.
Bro Boafo moved to stay in our home. He was so close to the children that he gained the nickname " Barabo-Blaah" . There was a young man who came to assist us with cleaning and gardening. This man just found it very difficult to pronounce the name Brother Boafo. So he just coined his own version and called him Barabo-Blaah. And it stuck.
Bro Boafo's presence in our home was indeed God-sent. In addition to having times of devotion together,  he taught our children to grow in reading and understanding the word of God and how to 
pray and share the message of gospel. 

Bro Boafo left us to join his wife in the US in 1989. The children Kwadwo, Abena and Kwaku never saw him again. But the rest of us had the blessing of having him in our home at Dzorwulu Accra in June 2009 when he came home for a visit. Then in the year 2017 I had the opportunity to see him again when he came home for an evangelistic visit and to introduce his book "Life Above".

The news of his demise has been received with shock and pain. But it is heart-warming to know that the Lord his God had other plans for him.

Barabo-Blaah, may the Lord keep gentle soul in perfect peace, till we meet again on that glorious day when He returns to take His church with Him.
  


Francis has been our friend and colleague at Tesano Baptist Church in Accra, Ghana. It was from Tesano that he left for USA.  Once a while he had visited Ghana to embark on evangelism in the rural communities. 
His passion for the preaching of the gospel was very evident and strong. He has fought a good fight and has finished his race. 
We know that a crown of glory awaits him heaven.

I write this short message of Condolences with a very heavy heart. Our dear brother has fought a good fight and he has been called home. All the suffering  has seized. May he Rest in perfect Peace. To those he has left behind in the family,  especially,  Sister Emily I say you are not alone you will be comforted  and have happiness  in this very Sad time.   We will be there to offer any advise and a helping  hand. You are not going to be alone. Like my favorite  Song said in a more trying situation  like this: IT IS WELL WITH  MY SOUL. God keep and comfort you going forward.

Ohene Boafo, please accept my deep felt sympathy for your loss. May Jehovah the God of all comfort, comfort you and your family and strengthen and uphold y'all through this difficult time 😢 💔 .

Bro Francis,

May your soul rest in the Lord in Peace. You have fought the good fight and have finished your race and you have kept the faith so there is laid up for you the crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous judge will give you on that day. II Tim 4: 7-8.

To me and my wife,  Bro Francis Boafo was a mentor when we got closer to him and his lovely wife Sister Emelia Boafo upon arrival in Austin. He welcomed us to his weekly bible study and prayer meetings in his home. He had a loving and kind heart and ready to help all.
I got really close to him, because I needed career guidance as I was about graduating from University of Texas at Austin and I saw him as a role model because of his profession as Electrical Engineer at Applied Materials. He offered me guidance to help me land a job at Applied Materials in Santa Clara, CA.  We have been so blessed since because of all the help he offered to us. 

We are grateful to you Bro Francis and wish your soul a well deserved rest in the Lord. We pray for you Sister Emelia, may the good Lord comfort and strengthen you and fill that big gap left by the departure of Brother Francis. God bless you. Steve & Betty Aboagye

On behalf of the Session and entire membership of the Peniel Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Salem Teshie, I wish express our deepest condolence to Aunty Emelia for the great loss. May your departed sweet and lovely husband rest peacefully in the bosom of the Almighty God.

My deepest condolences to you and family. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. The strength of Lord should keep you through this trying time. 

Ohene Boafo, may the soul of beloved brother rest peacefully in the bossom of the Lord. It is my prayer that the Lord should fill the vacuum which he has created by his demise. Accept my condolences.

We mourn and celebrate the life of our dear brother Francis Kwasi Boafo.  Francis had a humble beginning and was 
raised with Christian values.  These 
values were reflected in how he lived    his  life. 

He had a visionary spirit and a strong 
desire to serve the Lord and to  be an 
effective evangelist.  His publications 
 and evangelical missions testify to these 
attributes. I am happy that I had the 
opportunity to edit his very first publication,  "Awaken to Your New 
Creation".

I will remember him for his helpfulness, kindness and encouragement 
particularly during some challenging moments in my life.

While the loss is painful, we thank God 
for the years we shared.  I wish to quote 
from a poem entitled  "Beyond  Life's Gateway" by an unknown author.

"There's an open gate at the end of a road, through which each must go alone.

And there in a light we cannot see, our Father claims his own.

Beyond this gate, your loved ones find happiness and rest.

And there is comfort in the thought that a loving God knows best.

Dear Emelia, today we mourn with you 
and the rest of the family.  Marie and I  
will be here for you.  

May God who called our dear one home, 
grant him peace and rest. May the Lord give us the strength and faith to say that 
indeed He knows best.

The late Francis Boafo was my uncle. The only happiness of this sad event is that I am afforded the opportunity to reflect on the impact of him on my life. It is you that set me on the path of life and steered me all through my formative years. You sculptured me into what I am today. I remain grateful to God for your inspiring life and accomplishments, and more importantly, your invaluable role in my life.

May your soul rest in peace.

My condolence to the bereaved family and 
mr. Ohene Boafo. The first and the last time I saw him was when he visited  our church Grace Chapel International Sakumono Tema Ghana to introduce the live transforming book 'Living Above' in September 2010. God bless you for the seedlings you transplanted in His kingdom. Rest well. 

My brother Kwasi, this selfie taken by me on 23 September 2022, when you last visited home will be my freshest memory of you. You were a skilful fowler who could catch many pigeons with which we prepared light soup when we were little boys. You were a help in times of need. The memory of you will remain alive through the books you authored. Rest peacefully with the LORD.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this piece. 
Your humble desposition and very wise counselling variously, lighten up gloomy situations. You were very intelligent and ready to support anyone in whatever way possible, qualities that are rare in most people. Thank you for sharing the little you could offer. "It is well" one of your favourite hymns will always linger on in mind and bring back fond memoriesof you.
"The heart that loves, knows the pains of parting"

Brother Francis,   
Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds follow them!” (Revelation 14:13).  It's been so many years since I last saw you at Tesano Baptist Church, where we both sang in the church choir.  I knew you were here in the USA, but didn't know which State.  I heard the sad news this afternoon, and I'm heartbroken.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
