Frank Willis Hill died on June 17, 2016 at St. David's|Round Rock Medical Center; where he had been surrounded by family, friends, and caring nursing staff for the length of his stay. He goes to join his beloved wife and Savior in Heaven.
Frank has been a resident of Round Rock, TX since 1976. In the recent past, he has been a main stay at the YMCA in Round Rock; the oldest member of the silver sneakers program. Additionally, he was a proud member of Cityview Bible Church since its formation.
Frank enjoyed a great many things in his life including: music, playing the piano, baseball, greeting others at church and elsewhere, candy, humor, and being right. He was a loud man, who never met a stranger and always loved a hug from a pretty girl. He will be missed by a great number of people whose lives he touched.
Frank was born on August 2, 1921, at home in Moline, IL to Ines and Frank F. Hill. He was the next youngest of seven children. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps after being drafted into World War 2 for which he earned 6 medals. Before and after this time in history, Frank worked at Eagle Signal Company, which made and timed traffic lights, starting at the age of 18 and ending at 65. He retired from Eagle Signal after 44 Years and 23 patents. Frank proudly displayed two full size traffic lights at his residency after retirement. After his time in the service, Frank was married to Virginia Lee Treftz Hill in 1946. This union lasted 53 years, and produced 5 children. He built the house many of these children grew up in Moline, IL.
Although Frank has been slowed down in his recent years, he never stopped. He continued to walk his dog Sally until they both became too old for the tradition. One of his greatest recent joys was the addition of two great grandchildren born in the area.
He loved being the center of attention, so come let us celebrate and honor him one more time.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Saturday, June 25 2016 at Cook Walden Funeral Home in Pflugerville, TX. A visitation time is scheduled for the night before, Friday, June 24 from 6-8 pm, also at Cook Walden.
