November 21, 1946 – October 26, 2025
Frank “Frankie” Horton, a proud Austin, Texas native, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on November 21, 1946, Frankie lived a life full of laughter, service, and stories that brought joy to everyone who knew him.
At just 17 years old, Frankie enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country. During his military career, he was both a skilled fastball pitcher and a dedicated fireman, working in crash and rescue operations. His courage, teamwork, and compassion for others defined his service. Throughout his life, Frankie remained a strong advocate for firefighters and police officers, always expressing deep respect for those who serve their communities.
Frankie was a man who never met a stranger. He loved meeting up with friends for burgers, swapping stories, and sharing laughs. Known for his mischievous sense of humor, he delighted in joking with his trademark line, “What’s that on the floor?” — followed by a grin when someone jumped at the thought of a roach or rat. He had a love for The Beach Boys that could fill a room with good vibrations.
Frankie is preceded in death by his parents, Dorthey Horton and Hester Paul Horton Sr.; his brother, Paul Horton Jr.; and his sister, “Tootsie” Garner.
He is survived by his loving niece, who took care of him, Sharon Humpert; his great-niece and nephew, Heather Young and Tommy Toler; his wife, Melissa; and his great-niece Kristen Price and her husband, Britt. Frankie also leaves behind seven great-great nieces and nephews, along with many extended family members and countless friends who will miss him dearly.
Frankie Horton’s legacy lives on through his laughter, his service, and the love he shared so freely with those around him.
