

Geneva Barbara (Hanusch) Lenz was born in Bartlett, Texas on September 10, 1939, to Alvin "Pete" and Pearl Ella Hanusch. She passed on April 1, 2025, at the age of 85. She was a strong faithful follower of God, a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend.
Geneva was Baptized in Walburg, Texas at Zion Lutheran Church on September 30, 1939. She was Confirmed in Taylor, Tx at Trinity Lutheran Church on March 29, 1953.
Geneva graduated from Hutto High School in 1957, where she received various awards including a State FHA Degree, a Homemaking Award and a DAR Award. She was the Business Mgr. for the Hippo Staff, Office Secretary, FHA Treasurer, then FHA President and Chapter Sweetheart, FFA Sweetheart, Pep Squad Member, Head Cheerleader, Miss Hutto High Nominee, Football Sweetheart, 4-year Basketball player and Co-Captain, 4-year Volleyball player, and Senior Class Favorite. Geneva then attended and graduated from Nixon Clay Commercial College in Austin and was employed as a stenographer with the Retail Credit Co. of Austin. Over her work career, she held various secretarial positions, as well as working for and retiring from the Texas Dept. of Health and Human Services.
On November 1, 1958, Geneva was united to her high school sweetheart, Willie Lenz Jr., in a double ring ceremony at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylor, Texas. As the years passed, three children were born to Geneva and Willie. The family enjoyed many activities including tent camping, fishing, taking trips and visiting relatives.
In the early 1960’s the family became members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin. Geneva gave of herself not only to her family, but she touched many other lives as well. She was a long time Sunday School Teacher. She started Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls at Redeemer Lutheran School where she also became a leader of the Cub Scout Pack. In addition, Geneva was active with various groups within the church such as DORCAS and TLC groups.
During nearly 35 years of marriage, Geneva enjoyed kicking up her heels dancing with Willie to many polkas and waltzes at various venues. Geneva also enjoyed baking and decorating numerous cakes for Birthdays, Graduations, Weddings, Anniversaries and other happy occasions. Later in life, she participated in multiple social activities and community events. She was the Queen Bee of Red Hat group, was Regional President of AARP, and an officer at the Bacca Center in Round Rock.
Geneva also juggled her schedule to attend her grandchildren’s many sporting and academic events. She bounced between baseball, football, volleyball, soccer, track and basketball games, plays, concerts, award ceremonies and other functions all to support her grandchildren.
Geneva is survived by her children Russel & Cindy Lenz, Cheryl & Daniel Shea, Randel & Nancy Lenz, grandchildren Aaron & Taylor Lenz, Rachel & Nelson Ingram, Justin Shea, Colten & Gaby Shea, Amanda & Stephen Kelley, Eythan & Morgan Lenz, great-grandchildren Lucus, Ruth and Henry Lenz, John Wyatt, Lois and Samuel Ingram, Byrdie Kelley and soon to arrive great-grandsons Griffin Danial Shea and Rayne West Kelley, sister Cinda Carter, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, other family members and close friends.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband Willie Lenz, Jr., her parents Alvin "Pete" & Pearl Hanusch and brother Larry Hanusch.
Throughout her life, Geneva enjoyed visiting and sharing her faith with family and friends and now is celebrating a joyous reunion in heaven.
A visitation for Geneva will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, Pflugerville.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:30 AM in the Walden Room of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home.
Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
