She was an Alumni of a Manor School and was a member of several organizations such as the Manor High Maroons and Oral Speech. Georgia joined Parks Spring Baptist Church under Pastor Hansborough at an early age and began her walk with Christ at the age of 11. She was an active member of her church community wearing numerous hats such as the “Church Secretary, Mission Department, Mother’s Board, Youth President and Choir.
Georgia was always surrounded by a large and loving family. In 1950, she married the love of her life, Willie Fletcher. They were married for 45 years until he preceded her in death. While married, the couple raised five daughters with these ingredients: love, patience, discipline and humility. She always taught her daughters to read the Bible and to know God. She worked in various industries throughout her career and retired from Travis County in 1991. In her spare time, she read the Bible, cooked, gardened, collected unique plates, porcelain dolls, family photos and made time to attend her children and grand-children’s extra-curricular activities. Her philosophy to loved ones was to explore the beauty of the gospel and have a personal relationship with the Lord. She was the epitome of what a mother should be. She was kind and soft-spoken, always putting others’ needs before her own, no matter how big or small. Throughout her years Georgia was faithful to her family, friends and an active church member until her health declined.
She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Willie Fletcher, her parents Ben and Georgia Williams, her siblings, Annie Galloway, Bennie Williams, John Williams, Mae Fresch, Alberta Williams, Sam Williams, Maude Miles, Ruby Washington, Jimmie Williams and Joe Williams. She leaves to cherish her memories 5 daughters: 15 grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Georgia was such a beautiful soul and touched so many of our hearts. She will sincerely be missed. We love you!
