Lupe was born on September 19th, 1931, she was one of seven children born to Ezekiel Rodriguez and Maria Gonzalez. She had two brothers Eddie & Joe and four sisters Esther, Francis, Juanita & Mary. She also referred to her brother Joe’s wife, Juliet, as her sister in crime because they were always glued to the hip. Lupe and Juliet both boasted constantly about how when they were together, they never stopped laughing. Lupe had a zest for life and was always on the go.
Lupe Rodriguez married Antonio Medrano on August 24, 1958. They were married for 64 years until he passed away in the spring of 2023. Tony & Lupe had three children, Michael, Laura and Linda. She also had six Grandchildren Cereese, Anthony, Melinda, Monica, Michael Jr. and Callie. She is also survived by her Great Grandchildren, Noah, Luke, Kaydence, Griffin, and Katie Belle. We are very sad she didn’t survive to see her 6th Great Grandchild Dottie who is scheduled to be born in October.
Lupe started her work history working for the department store Weiner’s. After her marriage to Tony, she became a full-time housewife and they moved to Colorado because Tony was in the military at the time. Later they moved back to Houston; there she found time to be a substitute teacher at her children’s Elementary School. And later when her children advanced to middle school, she started working in the school cafeteria just to be closer to her children during the day.
Lupe was known to have many friends, and they made new friends whenever they traveled. Lupe and Tony traveled a lot and loved to go on cruises. Their favorite yearly trip was to Arizona, for a three-day Mariachi Festival. You can say Lupe's favorite hobbies were Shopping, Bazaars, Flea Markets and Garage sales. Lupe was also known for being a great cook.
She was known to be in daily conversations with her many friends and vast family on a most regular basis. Friends and family often referred to her as the Prayer Diva, whom all the family would call if they needed prayers. The family all joked about her direct line to God. When Lupe prayed for you, prayers were answered.
