

Harold (Hal) William Kalin, a cherished husband and father, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026. He was born on December 5, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan. Harold is survived by his daughter, Sherry Kalin Thomas, and son-in-law, Michael Edward Thomas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Phyllis Elaine Kalin.
Harold attended St. Joseph’s High School and was an altar boy. He enlisted in the Navy at 17 years of age serving on the aircraft carrier, USS Sicily, as Seaman First Class responsible for communications. He received three medals during his enlistment: Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. After his honorable discharge he worked as a Senior Ground Radio Operator for Trans World Airlines (TWA), then as a Field Inspector for the Atomic Energy Commission for over 25 years. He enjoyed being a private pilot flying Cessna airplanes and working on/restoring cars.
The family would like to thank the entire care staff at Parmer Woods Assistive Living, Powerback Rehabilitation, Gracy Woods II Nursing Center, and the Bristol Hospice care team whose compassion, professionalism, and kindness brought relief, dignity, and peace to both him and his family during his final days.
Dad, you are forever loved. Your absence leaves a deep emptiness in our hearts. Your pain is over as will ours in time. We miss you dearly.
A graveside service will be held at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, located at 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660, United States. The service is scheduled for January 27, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
