

Hazel M. Williams Smith, age 81, left this life and entered into the presence of the Lord on October 6, 2012. She passed away peacefully at her home with her daughters by her side after a long battle with heart disease.
Hazel was born on February 19, 1931 in Georgetown, Texas to Samuel and Irene Amanda (Atkinson) Wininger. She worked as a LVN with the Austin State Hospital, and retired after 37 years of service to the residents there. She loved to spend time with her family, reading, and embroidery. Hazel was a longtime member of the Church of the Glad Tidings in Austin.
She is preceded in death by her mother, her son, Norman F. Crider, Jr., her grandson, Justin Harlan, her first husband, O.M. “Butch” Williams, and her second husband, Joseph W. Smith.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Norma and husband Ralph Harlan of Pflugerville, and Paula and husband Otis Cowan of Austin; grandchildren, Kristie and husband Loy Beene of Hutto, Sylvia de la Vega of Austin, Jason Crider of Georgetown, and Amanda and husband Phil Journeay of Austin; and her great-grandchildren, Rickey de la Vega and Ashlee de la Vega of Austin, and Justin Beene of Hutto.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery.
