On a train ride to her first day of college she met a handsome young man named Al Eickhoff. They were married on the 14th of August 1949, and enjoyed 22 wonderful years together before Al suddenly went to be with the Lord on the 19th of December 1971. With a son in college and a daughter still in high school, she found herself back in the work force. Helen was the Regional Director of the American Lung Association for many years traveling over a five county area. She next worked as the Executive Director of the Girl Scout Council of one of the largest counties in upstate NY. In 1988 she moved to Austin Texas to be near her daughter and has worked as a sales associate at Foleys/Macys for the last 20 years. Helen loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was known as a great prayer warrior. She served Him passionately as a member of First Baptist Church Pflugerville and as a Sunday School teacher at the Pflugerville Care Center. Helen loved her family more than words can express and gave sacrificially of her time, energy, and resources.
She is survived by her son and daughter and their spouses, Baron and Claudia Eickhoff of Cocoa, Florida and Shellynne and Glenn Wucher of Austin. She is also survived by five grandchildren. Baron’s children Joshua, Danielle, and Melissa; and Shellynne’s children Jessie and Stephanie. Granny was proud of them all and thrilled that, through Baron, she had 9 great grandchildren. Her smile and hugs will be missed by all who ever knew her.
Services will be held for Helen at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 20th of November, at First Baptist Church of Pflugerville.
The graveside service will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
