

Henry Thomas Jabir Okelo, a beloved father, husband, brother, and friend, passed away on March 23, 2026, after a courageous battle with liver cancer and blood cancer. He was born on January 5, 1968, in Maridi South Sudan.
Henry was the son of the late Thomas Jabir and Veronica Labegeza. He came from a large and loving family. He was preceded in death by his brothers Juma, Samy, Martin, and another brother who passed in childhood. He is survived by his siblings Shama, John, Albert (known as Seer), and Nichola (also known as Abdallah), as well as his step-siblings Poskina, Perina, and Monica.
Henry belonged to the Balanda and Baka tribes, and he carried his heritage with pride throughout his life.
He began his education at Malikia Elementary School in Juba and later dedicated part of his life to service, joining the army in the year 2000. His strength, discipline, and commitment were evident in all that he did.
On October 15, 1987, Henry married the love of his life, Rahma Abdallah. Together, they built a strong and loving family and were blessed with seven children: Eime Henry, Tony Henry, Jimmy Henry, Thomas Henry, Edmon Henry, Shama Henry, and Edwin Henry. His family was his greatest pride and joy.
In 2004, Henry moved to Egypt in search of new opportunities and a better future for his family. In 2021, he relocated to the United States, continuing his journey with resilience and hope.
In 2024, Henry was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis, and in 2025, he was diagnosed with cancer. Despite his illness, he remained strong, surrounded by the love of his family, until his passing.
Henry will be remembered for his strength, his dedication to his family, and the love he shared with those around him. His legacy lives on through his children, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
