

Howard “Lee” Lombard, 53, Austin passed away as a result of a tragic accident on Monday, April 4, 2011. He was born February 20, 1958 in Mercedes, TX to Howard Leroy and Betty Lombard. Lee attended high school at the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, TX and college at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. He had been employed at Bayer Chemical in Baytown prior to moving to Austin in June 2008. He was employed at Texas Department of Public Safety on December 8. 2008, working initially for the Division of Emergency Management as a Special Projects Coordinator. On December 29, 2010 he was promoted to Mobile Command Center Technical Specialist with the Law Enforcement Communications Support Division. He was very passionate about his work and his work family. He was passionate about life and family.
Lee and Linda were high school sweethearts in the 70’s. They went their separate ways until 2008 when they re-connected with the same love and spark they had at 15 and 17. They were married on April 4, 2009 and would be celebrating their 2nd anniversary on the day Lee passed.
Lee loved to hunt, fish, work with his remote controlled airplanes and ride his Harley. Life was what Lee lived for.
Lee was an endowed lifetime member of the Grand Masonic Lodge of Texas, Jacques Demolay chapter 1390, Houston. He was also a Shriner and involved in many other endeavors.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife Linda, his children Heather Varela (Randy), Keith Lombard, Linsey Denning and Hunter Lombard, grandchildren Kade Lombard, Rylan, Hadlee and Rowan Varela, sisters Betty Jo Real (Pat) and Sharon Wilkerson (Clarence), a niece and three nephews, his mother-in-law (mom to him) Ann Guillory (Ray) and brother-in-law Brad Stevens. He is also survived by a huge extended family at DPS and a host of friends across the country.
Thank you to all who have supported our family through this tragedy. Lee would be so proud.
A visitation will take place from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2011 at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North IH 35, in Pflugerville, Texas, with Funeral Services to follow at 2:00 p.m.

Lee, I love you and miss you terribly but I am eternally grateful for the love you showed me. You always made sure that I knew you felt about me. You made my life the best it’s ever been. I held you in my heart all the years we were apart and I will hold you forever until we’re together again. I can’t wait for your arms to be wrapped around me again. Your loving wife, Linda
