Ima Belle (Taylor) Bunting

Graveside services for Ima Belle Taylor Bunting, 93, will be Monday July 29,2013 at 1 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery; 14501 North Interstate Highway 35; Austin, Texas under the direction of the Cook-Walden/Capital Park Funeral Home of Pflugerville. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home for visitation from Noon until 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted by Mr. Ken Young, minister of the Golf Course Road Church of Christ of Midland. She passed away Thursday July 25, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas. In recent years she lived in Abilene and previously at Manor Park in Midland, Texas.

Ima was born January 28, 1920 in Collinsville, Texas. She was the second oldest of 4 children born to Claybourn James and Esther Jackson Taylor, and survived both of her parents and all her siblings. She married Richard C. Bunting Jr. June 5, 1943 and they lived in Bryan, Angleton, McAllen, Lubbock and Austin until his death in 1973.

Ima graduated from Granger High School in Granger, Texas and Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas with a BA in Education. She taught 5th and 6th grade in McAllen and Lubbock for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Bunting Martin of Midland with husband Troy, along with their children, Troy, Jr and Gina Martin of Midland; Michele and Bryon Cheatham of Midland. Ima’s son, Richard C Bunting III of Abilene, predeceased her in death in 2001. Survivors include his widow Kay Bunting along with their children: Joseph and Aimee Bunting of Lubbock; Timothy and Misty Bunting of San Angelo; and Mark and Kim Bunting of Abilene. She had 11 great grandchildren.

Ima was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and attended the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Abilene. Ima was a former President of the Texas Heart Association Stroke Club, Texas Teachers Association, and the Sojourners, an RV National Evangelism Ministry of churches of Christ. She loved to travel and went on many missionary trips.
