

Ira Spence “Rusty” Rushing Sr. of Manor, Texas passed away on the 15th day of February 2011 surrounded by his family and friends. He was born the 17th day of April 1923 in Sabinal, Texas to Enoch and Myrtle Rushing.
A high school graduate of Sabinal, Texas he served honorably in the U. S. Navy and saw combat in the Pacific during WWII. He was awarded several medals during his service and after the war while being a loving husband and father he held several jobs to provide for his family. He retired from Manor ISD at 77 years of age.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Rushing, who was his strength and comfort over the last years. Also survived by 2 brothers Jack and Jim; 3 sons George Rushing, Tommy Rushing & wife Jamye, Mike Calhoun & wife Shelby; 5 grandchildren Yhana Allen & Ray, Wade Rushing & wife Amy, Nikki Carter & husband Kevin, Amye Olewin & husband Stan, Georgette Freeman & husband Joe; 11 great-grandchildren; with numerous nieces, nephews, including many special loving friends.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Veterans Administration in Temple Texas for their care during his lengthy illness.

Graveside service will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 19th, officiated by Rev. John Lawrence of Mount Calm, Texas.
