

J Carmen Balderas of Austin, Texas, went to be with the Lord, on Friday, February 23, 2024. He was a beloved father, grandfather, a respected businessman, and a man of faith. He was born in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico to the late Jose Carmen Balderas and Maria Cruz Emilia Licea
He married the love of his life Sanjuana Gallardo in Celaya, Guanajuato on October 28, 1992, and remained married to her until the day of his passing. From this union one son and two daughters were born, Abraham Balderas, Andrea Balderas, and Jaqueline Balderas. Together he and his wife worked as chefs at Jardin Corona for many years. After their departure from Jardin Corona, they followed their dreams of becoming business owners and opened what is known today as Balderas Joint located in Thorndale, Texas.
Carmelo’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He was a faithful man who loved the Lord, his family, church, and community. He became an ordained minister on January 1, 2012. After his ordination he served as Assistant Pastor at Mundo Apostolico Pentecostés where his passion for service as Assistant Pastor was reflected in the dedication of his time with selfless love and undying commitment. In his many years in ministry, he touched the lives of countless people as a compassionate mentor, a pillar of strength, and a beacon of wisdom.
Carmelo Balderas is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sanjuana Gallardo, his three children, Abraham Balderas, Andrea Balderas, Jaqueline Balderas and his five grandchildren: Elijah Balderas, Giovanni Balderas, Ace Balderas, Niko Balderas, Cataleya Elara Horton, and a host of other loving family members.
A visitation and prayer service for J will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. A funeral service will occur Friday, March 8, 2024 from 2:00 AM to 3:30 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home.
