James H Barry

Jim was born in Clarksville, TX in 1932, moved to the Rio Grande Valley and later to Waco, TX where he graduated from Waco High School in 1951 and married Betty Jean Pauling in 1953. He began employment with Braniff International Airlines in 1953 and was transferred to Austin in 1963. Jim was employed with Braniff for 28 years until the airline ceased operations. Jim and Betty then created a successful business manufacturing and selling handcrafted items at arts and craft shows and juried museum shows across the U.S, until they retired in 1997.

He was survived by his daughter Denise Barry, son and son-in-law, James Barry Jr and Steven Leigh, grandson Michael Colley and wife Shannon and great-grandsons Garrett and Ashton, granddaughter Cayce Pierce and husband Derek and great grandsons Daniel and Christian, and sister Joyce Haddock.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Betty Pauling Barry and parents, Hardy and Ada Barry.

A visitation for Jim will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A funeral service will occur Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A committal service will occur Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at External Service Location, 14501 N Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
