He attended schools in the Bastrop school district and graduated from Emile High School. James was very active in sports; He played football, basketball and ran track. James was extremely outgoing and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and church members. He loved his wife, Lillie Morrison Miller, children, grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Most of all, James loved the Lord and often reminded everyone to keep the faith and put God first.
