

He and his family moved to Austin, Texas when James was twelve years old where he spent most of his time outdoors.
James joined the United States Marine Corps in 1974 at the age of nineteen and served four years. After his diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease at the age of forty-four, he focused his time on Parkinson's Advocacy with Parkinson's Action Network and Capital Area Parkinsons Society. James was a dedicated musician, fisherman, and disc golfer. Following his Native American roots, James was always the family storyteller.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Naomi (Powers) Shrader and DT Shrader and his sister Brenda June Shrader.
He is survived by his beloved wife of forty years Patti Ann Shrader, his Aunt Sandy Hicks, sister Karen Eilertson (Troy,) children Jami Hale, Marshall Shrader (Caitlin,) Miranda Shrader, and 8 grandchildren Ethan Hernandez, Jayden Shrader, Mariah Shrader, Eva Hale, John Hale, Anna Hale, Lyla Eastland and Maddox Shrader.
Family and Friends are invited to celebrate his life with a visitation and service at Cook Walden Capital Parks 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, Texas, 78660 on Sunday March 16th, 2025. Visitation will be held from 12PM-2PM with service to begin at 2PM."
