Jerroll "Jerry" Dennis Owens

Jerry is survived by his wife, Connie Louise Owens; sons, Justin Scott Owens and his wife Pamela, and Jason Franklin Owens and his wife Camille; daughter, Carole Denise Owens; brother, Michael Todd Owens; and granddaughters, Ella Louise Owens and Abby Marcelyn Owens. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Franklin Owens and Olie Pauline Owens.

Jerry was born on October 11, 1941 in Waxahachie, Texas. He joined the Army in 1967 where he achieved rank of Specialist 5th Class and served as a pharmacy instructor during the Vietnam War. He married Connie Louise Coward of Austin, Texas in 1968 and they were married for 47 years. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1973 with a degree in Pharmacy. Jerry worked as a retail pharmacist at the same drugstore throughout his career where he loved his customers. Jerry was a devoted Longhorn football fan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home at 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas. Reverend Dan Gardner will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jerry’s life.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to Hyde Park Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the kind nursing staff at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and Austin Fire Department Station 40 for all their support over the last few years.
