

John Emmett McGillen, 62 passed away suddenly on December 19,2016 in Ciudad Ojeda, Venezuela. Born in Massachusetts on May 18th, 1954 the first born child of John and Peg McGillen. He was called Jack to avoid confusion with his father, who shared his mischievous smile and spirit. As a child his energy was boundless and he was a leader among his friends.
Jack graduated from Mills High School in Mills, MA in 1972. His adventurous streak inspired his move to Louisiana where he studied engineering at Nicholls State University and eventually to meet Merline Courteaux. Together they had a beautiful daughter, Monique McGillen. Jack enjoyed a long career in the oil business, traveling widely to Italy, South America, Ireland, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and many more places. He always found work which required and complemented his love to travel.
Jack was proceeded in death by his father, John McGillen. He is survived by his mother Margaret "Peg" McGillen of Daly City, CA. His daughter Monique McGillen and grand son Tristan both of Austin, TX; five siblings Jill McGillen of Daly City, CA; Kathy McGillen, Maureen (Bill) Thielen, and Paul McGillen of San Diego, CA; and Patricia (Mark) Meckler of Grass Valley, CA.
Jacks lasting gifts to those who loved him are his wonderful daughter Monique and grandson Tristan, who flourish, as does his memory.... Always, always in our hearts.
Mass and Memorial will be held at St. John Vianney on February 17, 2017 beginning at 4:00PM. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Cook-Walden Capital Parks, Austin, TX.
