John C. Sosko, age 42, of Elgin, and formerly of St. Peters, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2013. He was born on April 28, 1971 in Bay Shore, New York. John served his country in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged after serving in both the Army and the Army Reserves. He was a disabled veteran. At the time of his death, John had only been a two month resident of Texas. He moved his family here for a fresh start with his wife, Kara, to make a home for their son, Tyler, and for their unborn son, Jake. He was also bringing his wife to live closer to her family in Texas. He had just bought a new motorcycle and in his spare time, he loved exploring Austin and riding to new places. His greatest joy was spending time with Tyler out in their yard and looking at cars. John and Kara had been together for six and a half years, and during that time, John was a loving, extremely protective, and gentle father and husband. Besides his family, he was most proud of his military service. He loved his country and one of his goals was to become a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. John could fix anything and was looking forward to traveling with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his father-in-law, and helping him with his computer, printer, and lawnmower. He was a quiet man, who preferred to spend time with Kara and Tyler. He was also excited to go to all events in the Austin area - parades, rodeos, ROT Rallies and Tattoo Conventions. He loved animals, especially reptiles and amphibians, and would catch turtles and lizards for Tyler to look at all the time. John greatest joys in life were Kara and Tyler ~ and he was thrilled to be having Jake. He was excited to start their new life in Texas and raise their boys here and wanted so much to make this area their home.
Those left behind to cherish John's memory are his beloved wife, Kara and son Tyler, and little Jake (who is on the way), all of Elgin. He is also survived by his three sons, Christopher, Slade, and Shelby Sosko, all of St. Louis, Missouri and his parents, Diane and Bill Sosko of New Mexico.
He will be loved and missed more than anyone could know. He was a beloved husband, father, son and friend.
