Jon is survived by his wife, Sarah, his mom Terrie, his stepdad John, and his little brother Kris. An army of friends and family are left to celebrate Jon's life and mourn his passing.
In addition to all of the human lives Jon touched, perhaps one of the largest pieces of his heart was devoted to his cats: Dudley, the best grump-cat, Clavin, the fastest moving loving poppa cat ever, and Norman, the sweetest most handsome cat. They were his loyal and loving companions, and they meant the world to Jon. He also dedicated his life to fostering lost, abandoned, or discarded cats; he believed it added beauty to the world to make the lives of these little animals a little bit easier.
Jon's dedication to the Longhorns began at the early age of 3 when he declared his burnt orange allegiance. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, but long before he set foot on the 40 Acres, he was a passionate lifelong fan of all things Longhorn athletics. We'll never forget the night Vince ran it in back in ’06, and the bear hugs and smiles that came from that moment.
Jon was a tennis player. He loved his Agassi's, and he wore them well. He loved Sampras as well, but he always rooted for Agassi because he was cooler. He was also an amazing ping-pong player, and he beat the brakes off his little brother. One time, Jon beat Kris so badly that Kris threw a ping-pong paddle through a window, but Jon took the rap for him. Sorry, Mom.
He was the best big brother anyone could ever ask for.
Jon was many things to many people, but above all, he was a friend to everyone he met.
He believed the city of Houston was trash, and he believed the Rockets' championships were fraudulent because Jordan was retired, and yet he also believed Jordan pushed off Russell on the shot in 1998. He believed these things to his core. He also believed Tom Hanks was the most overrated actor, and he refused to watch any of his movies. Jon had thoughts on things, and he lived by those thoughts.
Jon also adored his wife, Sarah, and she was his angel. She was everything he could have asked for in a partner in crime.
Jon loved his mom and stepfather too. His relationship with his dad wasn't great, but his step-dad was a godsend, and he loved and cared for Jon in ways that Jon always appreciated beyond measure. His mom was his "North Star." She was always his way home.
He tolerated his little brother.
He's gone now, but the love and friendships he made while he was here will live forever. Other than Houston, we love you, Jon.
