Joyce Ann Kepney

Joyce Ann Fletcher-Kepney was born on July 26, 1943, in Chickasha, Oklahoma to the late Theodore and Gertrude Fletcher. She was the fifth of six children. Joyce attended Lincoln School and later graduated from Chickasha High School in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Joyce met the love of her life, Charles Kepney, on February 19, 1967, while he was serving in the United States Army and stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Their love led to marriage on March 19, 1968, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Their union was blessed with 50 wonderful years of marriage until the passing of Charles Kepney on June 24, 2018.

As a military family, Joyce traveled with her husband and daughter to several duty stations including Ansbach, Germany and Fort Riley, Kansas. After the completion of Charles’ successful military career, the family made their home in Austin, Texas in 1979.

Joyce loved the Lord and was a loyal and devoted member of World of Pentecost / Promiseland Church. She faithfully served as a member of the Mass Choir and was known as a mighty, fearless, and faithful prayer warrior. Joyce had a deep love for people and never met a stranger. She was affectionately known as “Mama Joyce” and “Sister Joyce,” but most lovingly called “Mama Joyce” by many who considered her a spiritual mother.

Joyce cherished the Word of God and held two scriptures close to her heart from the King James Version:

Proverbs 3:5-6:

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

2 Timothy 4:7:

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Kepney; her parents, Theodore and Gertrude Fletcher; and five siblings.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her daughter, Stacy Kepney of Austin, Texas; her granddaughter, Chelsey Collins (Brashonica) of Houston, Texas; her sister, Seleda Page; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and countless friends whose lives she touched.

The Fletcher-Kepney family would like to extend their deepest and most sincere gratitude for the prayers, phone calls, visits, thoughtful cards, flowers, and support during this time of bereavement. The family also expresses heartfelt appreciation to Three Oaks Hospice, Caregivers and the World of Pentecost / Promiseland Church family who lovingly supported Joyce throughout her life and in her final days.
