Joyce Davis Schneider

Joyce Davis Schneider, 87, born October 24, 1937, returned to God on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents Howard H Davis and A. Louise Crum Davis; husband, John T. Schneider Jr. ; and brother, H. Douglas Davis.

Joyce was a proud Native Texan, born and raised in the Austin area, where she developed a deep love for the state’s rich culture and natural beauty. Her Texas roots were an integral part of who she was, and she carried that Texas spirit with her throughout her life. Joyce was a born-again Christian who loved her Lord Jesus. She saw the world as it was and anyone who knew her was touched by her kindness, humor, and optimism. She had a generous heart, never hesitating to help those she loved. She was affectionately called “auntie” by her family in Louisiana; always a gracious hostess during their visits at her home on the San Marcos River.

She is greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy S. Whitis, and her like-a-daughter, Lynda Todd; her son, Johnny L. Schneider and Daryl; her grandson, Steven T. Whitis and Sara; her great-granddaughter, Eleanor Whitis; her great-grandson, Thomas Wesley Whitis; her sister, Betty Berry; and her brothers-in-law, Wesley "Jerry" Schneider and Sue, along with their daughter Carolyn and Kris Walsh, Gene Schneider and his wife, Lisa, and their daughters Kelly and Katherine Schneider and Julie and Ray Maples. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Georgia Kay and Groovy Louviere, Belinda Billingsley, Susie Perez and Jesse, Marsha Massie and Scott, David Billingsley and Shea, Mark Billingsley and Tammy, Carl Davis and Bonnie, and many beloved grand-nieces and grand-nephews: Lauren LeJeune and Daniel, Amelia Guidry and Jarred, Ariel Margaurite Flores and Justin, Nicole Niemeyer and Dustin, and Jacob Perez and Sierra, along with countless other family members and friends.

Joyce’s wishes were to have a Bar-B-Que party after services. Say “yes” to life.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Happle Cemetery with Chaplain Rob Mundras officiating.

Interment will follow in the Happle Cemetery in Kingsbury.

A graveside service for Joyce will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Happle Cemetery, 29°43'N 97°46'W, Texas, TX 78638.
