Judith Kay Magner, born Judith Kay Eastman, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 29, 2014 at her home in Austin, Texas. Judy was born on February 23, 1937 in Wichita, Kansas to John and Lillian Eastman, where she grew up and attended East High School. She also attended Wichita University for two years. After a blind date of dancing to “Shake, Rattle and Roll” she married Arthur Leon Magner on August 30, 1956. Judy spent 20 wonderful years as a dedicated Air Force wife where she made many committed lifelong friendships. Judy was the proud mother of three children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Raising her children and the establishment of a loving family were her primary focus. Judy was also involved in many outside activities wherever she lived. Most recently Judy was active with the Retired Officers’ Wives Club, Red Hat Ladies, Pflugerville Community Church and volunteering at North Austin Medical Center. She was an avid fan of UT athletics as a season ticket holder for baseball, volleyball and football. The love of family and friends was prominent in Judy’s life, planning such events as the annual family reunion for the Fourth of July and a trip to the College World Series every June. Judy was diagnosed in November 2013 with an aggressive form of cancer. Despite this diagnosis she exemplified courage, grace and faith in her Lord. Judy will be remembered by friends and family as a generous woman who always found a way to show the love of Jesus by heartfelt gestures such as cards and phone calls for even the smallest of events. Prior to her passing Judy stated that she was most proud of her kids and grandkids. But we, mom, are proud of you. Your legacy of strength, love of family and faith will live on.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35 in Pflugerville, Texas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Pflugerville Community Church, 1214 Pfennig Lane in Pflugerville, Texas. A committal service will follow at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery.
