Julia “Judy” Ann Watkins King went to be with our Lord on January 26, 2011. She was born on August 15, 1938 in Fort Worth, Texas to Grover and Edith Watkins. Judy grew up in Fort Worth and attended Paschal High School where she was a member of the orchestra as a violinist. She was also active in the Calvary Baptist Church where she met the love of her life, George King. They married on September 1, 1956 and began their life’s journey that lasted until his death in 2005. During their forty-eight years of marriage they lived in many cities in the State of Texas, finally settling in Round Rock in 1980 where they both lived until their deaths.
Along the way, Judy had three children - Julie Carole, Jeffrey Charles and Donna Gayle - who she loved and adored. There was never a function that they were involved in that she did not attend, always providing her full support. She sat on many bleachers at ballparks and in gymnasiums around Texas and the United States supporting her kids’ efforts. As they grew up, she also found time to attend and graduate from North Texas State University in 1974 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education. Upon arriving in Round Rock, she began a career at IBM in Austin where she worked until both she and George retired in 1996.
Judy had a natural glowing personality that lighted every room she entered. She had many lifelong friends that she had met during her time on this earth. In the last years of her life, she was able to travel to Europe with her friends and enjoy God’s creations. Her untimely death has left a hole in the hearts of her friends and family that time will heal with the help of the memories they will share of her.
Mrs. King is survived by her daughter, Julie Wyatt; son-in-law, Eddy Wyatt; son, Jeffrey King; daughter-in-law, Lorie King; daughter, Donna King Escover; son-in-law, John Escover; and grandchildren, Elizabeth McBride, Patrick McBride, Christopher McBride, Tessa Boenisch, Leighton Wyatt, Jennifer King, Stephanie King, Derrick Heydari, Sarah Heydari, Wesley Gafford, Bailey Escover, Nolan Escover, and Keeli Escover.
